Hello Everyone – just wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know that December 2015 will probably be the last month for Venerable Radio to be on the air. It’s not 100% guaranteed, but it’s looking like our licensing fees are due to go up astronomically. There is still a chance that an appeal to Copyright Royalty Board (enforced by Sound Exchange) will mitigate some of the cost increases, but it might not be done before January 1st. This mixed with our recent decline in listenership and donations make it improbable that we will be able to carry on. If it turns out that the increase in fees will be less than $20 per month (or so) we may try to carry on for a bit longer with a higher push for donations; at the moment though all signs point to the fee increase being much steeper than that. In any case, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our faithful listeners and donors for the years of great support! If there is any new news on the situation, I’ll post it here. Sincerely, Malcolm

This is dismaying. Have you approached media figures to promote the website? I would think that people like Terry Zwigoff and Robert Crumb would lend public support. All you need is some awareness to get more listeners/subscribers. Yours is the only station on iTunes doing what you do.

So do you have any updates about the closing down of Venerable Radio? Has anything been worked out as far as the license fees are concerned? I find that I have a very strong interest in the fate of this station as it has become one of the top five things that make my life worth living. I have been a fan for about 6 years, and my interest has been growing as time goes on, so it was with deep sorrow that I saw the notice about the closing. I have to admit that I have never been one of the donors until now, but the fact that I would lose this great resource has made this very real for me. I am not a wealthy person, but I would be quite willing to be a regular core donor. So what does it take to keep Venerable Radio broadcasting? Please don't go. I will miss you so!
